How to use location services

This article goes over how to use location services on Mac and Windows computers. If this is what you are looking for, you've found the place! 

You might be familiar with the famous real-estate mantra "It's all about Location, Location, Location". With the new version of Shift, Shift Ultra, it's all about GeoLocation. With a click of a button, you can now toggle your location services ON or OFF.

What does that mean for your workflow within Shift?

Well, now you can conveniently plan your trips on Google Maps, allow location when browsing, and enjoy watching films and shows on Hulu - all within Shift.

Location services were not supported in the previous version of Shift (v7)!

How to use location services (Mac)

There are two parts to enable location services within Shift on your Mac.

  1. Choose Apple menu  System Preferences  Security and Privacy, then click Privacy
  2. Select Location in the left column
  3. Check the box next to the Shift logo

Once complete, you can go to any website that requires your location and follow these steps:

  1. Select the Lock icon next to the Search Bar (Omnibox)
  2. Click on Site Settings
  3. Find Location and select "Allow" in the drop-down menu next to it. 

 

How to use location services (Windows)

There are two parts to enable location service within Shift on Windows:

  1. Open Settings Privacy Location
  2. Make sure "Allow access to Desktop Apps" is enabled

Once complete, you can go to any website that requires your location for instance Home Depot and follow these steps:

  1. Select the Lock icon next to the Search Bar (Omnibox)
  2. Click on Site Settings
  3. Find Location and select "Allow" in the drop-down menu next to it.
