Update to Shift’s Login Process

We’ve made an update to Shift’s login process to simplify account access and prevent confusion when switching Primary emails. This information applies to you if you have changed your Primary at any point from the Original email used to set up your Shift account.

Previously, users could log in using either the Original email used to set up their Shift account or their current Primary email. While this was meant to streamline login, it sometimes caused unintended issues—especially when users tried to create a new account using their original email.

To improve this experience, we’ve updated how Shift handles logins.

What This Means for You

Before the Change:

  • Users could log in with either their Primary email or their Original email.
  • Sometimes a user, forgetting they’d changed their Primary email, may continue signing in with the Original email by mistake.
  • If a user tried to create a new account with their Original email, Shift would log them into their existing account instead.

After the Change:

  • Users must log in with their Primary email to access their account.
  • If you attempt to sign in with your Original email, Shift will not log you in and prompt you to try again with the correct Primary credentials.
  • Users who want to create a new account with their Original email can now do so, but please reach out to Shift Support for assistance as there are still adjustments that need to be made on the backend to allow you to create a new account with your Original email.

How to Resolve Account Access Issues

If you are unable to log in or can’t remember what your Primary email is, follow these steps:

  • Try logging in with your Primary email instead of your Original email.
  • If you’re not sure which email is currently your Primary, you can reach out to Shift Support for assistance, or search your inbox for past Shift emails (e.g., subscription receipts, login confirmation).
