Users are running into an error when trying to download an attachment in Shift.
Status: Fix available ✅
The following troubleshooting steps will fix the issue:
- Open the Registry Editor:
- Press
Windows + R
on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box. -
Type
regedit
and pressEnter
.
- Press

In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Attachments
- Once you’ve located the Attachments folder:
- Click on it to display its contents on the right-hand pane. It should look something like this:
- Find the entry named ScanWithAntivirus.
- Right-click on ScanWithAntivirus and select Modify.

Change the value to
0
(which disables the scan) and click OK.
- Click on it to display its contents on the right-hand pane. It should look something like this:
