Are you an Instagram user and to use the app in Shift? Here is a summary of how to add Instagram to your setup and manage it in Shift!

Instagram is a social media app where you can share photos with friends, family, and the world. The Instagram web application is available in Shift for any Shift Advanced user. Click here for a full list of features provided by Instagram.

Instagram in Shift works the same as Instagram in a browser. Certain features from the mobile app, such as posting images, are not available.

  2. Click on the plus sign (+) at the bottom left corner
  3. Click on 'Add Application'

  5. Select 'Instagram' and add your preferred name and color for your account
  6. Click on 'Save'. You will see Instagram in the Shift sidebar

**The above video shows how to add Instagram to Shift as outlined in the steps above.

How do I manage my notifications and badges for Instagram in Shift?

To turn on notifications:

  1. Open Instagram in Shift
  2. Click the lock icon to the right in the address bar
  3. Click on "Site Settings"
  4. Toggle your notifications on or off

To manage badges

  1. Right-click on the Instagram app in Shift
  2. Make sure the "Show App Unread Badge" is checked

Pro Tip: If you don’t want notifications to count in the badge for the whole Workspace, turn off "Include in Workspace Unread count".

Note: Even if you turn off desktop notifications, you might still hear sounds from Instagram. To change these, look at this article from Instagram here.

Using multiple instances of the Instagram app in Shift

Some apps, like Instagram, have a limitation on how many instances you can be logged into at a given time. This is unfortunately out of Shift's control and has to do with security measures Instagram has in place.

Want to access your Instagram app in another Workspace?

With all apps in Shift, you can create a shortcut to access them in any Workspace you choose. Check out this great resource on how to accomplish that here: All About App Shortcuts.
