Notification badges are the small red numbers or dots you see in Shift.
- The badge on a Workspace shows the total number of unread items in that Workspace.
- You can turn badges on or off for Apps, Emails, or an entire Workspace.
Here’s how you can manage them:
How to turn off badges for a Workspace
Don’t want to see the total unread count for a Workspace?
- Right-click on the Workspace icon in the sidebar.
- Toggle "Show Workspace Unread Badge" to OFF.
**The GIF above illustrates how to right-click on a workspace and select "Show Workspace Unread Badges" to check or uncheck it.
How to turn off badges for certain apps
- Right-click on the app in the sidebar.
- Toggle "Show Unread App Badges" ON or OFF.
- If you want this app’s unread count to add to the Workspace’s total unread count, toggle "Include in Workspace Unread Count" ON.
Note: This change applies only to this app. If you added the same app somewhere else, you’ll need to adjust it there too.
**The GIF above shows how to right-click the Slack app to display the app's unread badge and check whether to include it in the workspace count.
How to adjust unread badges for email
You can control if unread emails count toward the Workspace’s total unread count.
- Click on the Workspace in the sidebar.
- Go to your mailbox.
- Right-click on the mail icon at the top (near the calendar and Drive icons).
- Toggle "Show App Unread Badge" ON to see a red notification for unread emails.
- Toggle "Include in Workspace Unread Count" ON to add unread emails to the total Workspace count.
