If you’re having trouble staying logged into your email accounts in Shift or keep seeing the message, “It appears that you are logged out of Google,” here are some simple steps to fix the issue.
1. Sign in to Shift fully
Sometimes you’ll see a message asking you to log back in. This means the Shift server has lost its connection to your email account. To fix this:
- Click the pop-up to sign back into your email.
- Make sure you complete the login process fully.
If you dismiss or snooze this message without signing back in, you’ll continue to see the prompt and won’t stay logged into your email.

2. Select "Keep me logged in"
When logging into an email account in Shift:
- Look for a checkbox that says “Keep me logged in” and make sure it’s selected before completing the login process.
If you’re unsure whether you selected this option:
- Remove the email account from Shift.
- Add the account back and log in again, ensuring the “Keep me logged in” option is checked.
3. Check cookie and data site settings
Shift uses cookies to keep you logged into your email. If these cookies are deleted, you’ll have to log in again. To ensure cookies are saved:
- Go to Quick Settings (top-right corner)
- Scroll down to Advanced Settings and click Privacy and Security
- Select Delete browsing data
- Set the time range to All time
- Ensure that Cookies and other site data is checked.
- Click Delete data

4. Check tips from your email provider
Shift uses the login settings from your email provider, like Google or Microsoft. If you’re still being logged out frequently, check the login settings with your email provider.
5. Check app/account-specific login settings
Check the specific login settings for specific apps/accounts. Apps and websites that handle secured or sensitive information (e.g. banking, accounting, and similar apps) will automatically log out after a period of inactivity or after a set time. There is no way to change or alter this in Shift.
