If you're having problems with a Chrome extension in Shift, like logging in or getting it to work, here are 7 quick tips to help you. Start at the top and go through the list! 👇

1. Extensions in Shift are global

This means you can log into one account for an extension (rather than multiple accounts for the same extension).

2. Certain extensions will only work with your Primary Shift Account

Extensions that need a specific email, like CRMs or email trackers, will only work with your Primary Shift Account. If you try to use them with another email in Shift, they won't work. A few known examples include Todoist, Boomerang, Copper, HubSpot, Mixmax, Mailtrack, Streak, etc. You may run into an error page saying "This page has been blocked by Shift" like the following screenshot when you attempt to use these extensions in one of your secondary emails:

If you need to use a certain extension with one of your non-primary emails, we recommend changing your Primary Shift Account email.

3. Check Known Issues

There are currently 2 known issues with extensions:

4. Make sure you use the extension icon to log into the extension

Always use the extension icon towards the upper right corner to log into your extensions:

5. Authenticate within Shift

Sometimes, an extension will open a new tab to log in. Make sure this tab opens inside Shift, not in your regular browser. If it opens outside of Shift, Shift won’t know you logged in. You can make sure the login tab opens within Shift by toggling this setting:

6. Refresh the page

If your extension isn’t working, try refreshing the page. Click the Reload Page button in the top left corner. You can also double-click your email icon to give Shift a refresh.

7. Can't find your desired extension? Search for it manually outside of the Chrome Web Store

If you can’t find an extension in the Chrome Web Store, try searching for it outside the store. Once you find a link to the extension, open it in Shift and try adding it from there.
