  • Updated

Telegram is a popular cross-platform messaging app that is widely used for its enhanced privacy and encryption features as well as support for large group chat features. You can add all your Telegram accounts to Shift and manage your communication all in one place.

How to add Telegram in Shift

  1. Open Shift and click on the plus sign in the bottom left-hand corner

  2. Click on 'Add Application'

  3. Tap on the search bar to type 'Telegram'
  4. Select 'Telegram' and add your preferred account name and preferred account color
  5. Select if you want to add the app to any preferred Workspace or if you want to add the app shortcut to another Workspace
  6. Click 'Save'

How to add multiple Telegram accounts

Simply add multiple instances of the app and log in with the respective account credentials! We recommend giving each a different color and name to help differentiate them in your sidebar.

How to manage notifications on Telegram

To allow notifications:

  1. Navigate to the Telegram app, and click the small lock icon at the top of your screen on the right of the search bar.
  2. Click Site Settings.
  3. Scroll down to notifications.
  4. Set your notifications and or badges on/off according to your preferences

To manage badges

  1. Right-click on the Facebook app
  2. Ensure "Show App Unread Badge" has a check beside it

If you don't want the notifications to add in the badge count for that entire Workspace, we recommend toggling off "Include in Workspace Unread count".

After turning off your desktop notifications for Telegram, you may still continue to hear custom notification sounds from the Telegram app. Learn more about muting notifications in Shift here.

Can I create a new Telegram account from within Shift?

No. You can log in to existing Telegram accounts within Shift, but you cannot create an entirely new Telegram account from within Shift.
